Happy Saturday morning everyone.

Happy Saturday morning everyone.  We are at the clinic  and it has internet access as there is an inpatient.  We rather covet the times that it is on and it can go off at any minute.  There is insufficient access to reliable electricity so we have learned that on Saturdays it is on some kind of intermittent schedule.  Sometimes off for 7 hours or so.  This morning it was just a short time.  We will shortly go out for spicy noodles with Jason and and his wife.  He is a Stanford resident and she is from Brazil and I still am not sure how to pronounce her name.

Jim did mention that we did bike inventory and are hoping that a new volunteer (who has been here before) due to arrive next week will bring a few very basic things like bike tools.  We will teach the young man who has been hired to do maintenance work how to change tires and oil chains.

Shopping this morning was fun and we laid ina supply of comfort foods for us including some oreos.  Some of you may remember that they were a periodic highlight for us when we were in Ecuador.  They must be all over the world!  We also asked Hotlin, one of the founders if we could buy some yogurt and her version of granola.  She is giving thought to asking her helper to make a few of these items and then sell them to us Westerners as a secondary source of income.

We paid our helper this morning for next week's food  It was  100,000 Rupiahs or $10 for each of us, so $20 a week.  "Housekeeping" and clothes washing  is additional.  We are struggling abit to get used to money in the thousands...Periodically get all those zeros mixed up.

Signing off as we need to bike to join Jason.  Next update from me will be an account of my visit via motorcycle to two widows who have goats as part of the goats for widows program and my take on our hike in the national park.  I know you can't just wait!!

Love to all.
